So, as I mentioned in my last post that we were searching for a dime. To recap, Harlen swallowed a dime on the 15th as I was getting him ready to go to his 2yr check up. The docotrs told us to search his poop to look for it (insert yuck face) and if we did not see it then we were to call in and ask what the next step is on Monday. Well, Monday came and the hubs and I did not see anything, so we called and they told us that since he was eating and drinking fine and was not getting sick then we should wait and keep looking for it and call back in on Friday. I was a little late on calling in on Friday and when I called, the phone nurse said that she was going to talk to the doctors and see what we should do. About 15 minutes later, the children's urgent care called me and said that they wanted to take an x-ray of Harlen to make sure that the dime had passed. I immediately got nervous. Not because I thought he was in danger, my gut told me that he was fine, but mainly because I did not want him to be scared. He was about to go into a room with big equipment that he had never seen before (thank GOD) and that would scare any child. I am not sure why I always get nervous because Harlen did GREAT. He did everything that the nurse said to do. I know he was a little hesitant and scared because I could see his little heart beating through his chest. I kept talking to him and telling him that he was ok and that mommy was with him. He just kept saying "picture of my belly" over and over and "dime in my poopy." I was standing over him and kept telling him to look at mommy and we sang our ABC's and Row Row Row You Boat while they took about 5 pictures of him in a bunch of different positions. Once done, he got to pick out a sticker and he wore it proudly. While leaving the urgent care he insisted on stopping at each check in desk to show the nice ladies his badge of honor. They all laughed at him and gave him high fives for being such a good patient. The tech mentioned that I would not get a call from the doctors office with confirmation if the dime was still lodged or not till the morning because the doctors office was closed by the time we finished with his x-rays. We left and went to Papa and Grandmas for pizza and play time with Colton and Hudson. First thing on Saturday morning, we got a call for the doctors office that the xrays did not show any trace of the dime still in his stomach and that we were clear to stop checking his poops. Phew, a week of looking through poopy diapers was not fun, but necessary to make sure our little man was ok. The hubs pulled the "I am going to puke" card if Harlen went #2, so I sucked it up and searched through every diaper except 1. Go Mommy! So glad it is over though and that Harlen got a clean bill of health.
